Sri Chidambareshwara Swamy Temple, Dhanvantari Road, Mysore was built in the year 1886. Pratishthapana of Lord Sri Chidambareshwara Swamy was done on 2nd September, 1886 by the then deputy commissioner of the Princely State of Mysore, Late Shree E. Chidambaram Iyer.
In the year 1937-38, the properties adjoining the temple were acquired by the City Improvement Trust Board (now MUDA), which consisted of the Temple Choultry, Temple Sanskrit School and Agraharam of nearly 80 houses.
The details of the property are recorded in the property card issued by the Assistant Director, Department of Survey Settlement & Land Records & City Planning, Govt of Karnataka, Mysore.
The Temple celebrated it's 100th year anniversary in September 1985 under the guidance of the then Temple Agamik, Late Shree Nanjappa Shastry, grand father of Shree N. V. Sheshachalan, present trustee of the temple.
Sri Sri Bharthi Thirtha Mahaswamy of Shree Shringeri Sharada Peetham visited the temple in June 2010 to inaugurate the 125th anniversary celebrations of the temple which concluded in June 2011.
